Jongen: Symphonie concertante for organ and orchestra op.81 (solo part)

Jongen’s concertant symphony is an organ concerto in its own right: Jongen deliberately left the orchestra large - unlike many concerto composers before him, such as Parker, Bossi or Rheinberger. For a long time, the sound of the organ was considered incompatible with many orchestral colours. Jongen skilfully combines both spheres of sound with late impressionistic creative power, which opens up completely new possibilities and nuances: a standard work in the genre.

„Let me say that my old Walloon heart is impressed and moved by your new Symphony. It is a masterpiece and honors the whole country, especially Wallonia.“ (Eugene Ysaye)
