Gustaf Hägg was born in Visby, Sweden, the son of an organ builder. His musical talent emerged early. He studied church music in Stockholm and later received further training from Widor and Guilmant, among others. Hägg was a well-known organ virtuoso and left behind numerous works of various genres as a composer.
