Works and editions by Kaprál, Václav (1889-1947)

Václav Kaprál was born in Urcice in the Czech Republic. He studied composition with Janácek, among others, and later also piano in Prague and Paris. He became a music teacher, critic and later professor at the Prague Conservatory. In 1942 he was arrested and imprisoned by the Nazi‘s Gestapo police. After the war he became a music teacher again. He left behind mainly piano and chamber music and is considered to have set the style for early modernism in the Czech Republic.
