Kaprál: Sonatina bucolica for piano
Václav Kaprál was born in Urcice in the Czech Republic. He studied composition with Janacek, among others, and later also piano in Prague and Paris. He became a music teacher, critic and later professor at the Prague Conservatory. In 1942 he was arrested and imprisoned by the Nazi‘s Gestapo police. After the war he became a music teacher again. He left behind mainly piano and chamber music and is considered to have set the style for early modernism in the Czech Republic.
