Pièces et editions de Wachsmuth, Walter (1882-1964)

Wachsmuth, Walter (1882-1964)

Walter Wachsmuth was born in 1882 as the son of a master baker in Königsberg (today Kaliningrad / Russia). Shortly after his birth, his mother moved with him to Braunschweig. With a scholarship, he studied at the Stern Conservatory in Berlin, including with Joseph Joachim. In 1907 Wachsmuth took up a position as first violinist of the Herzogliche Hofkapelle in Braunschweig. He made a name for himself as a virtuoso and cultivated chamber music throughout his life ("Wachsmuth Quartet"). For his demanding concert cycle "Musikalische Erbauungs-stunden", he brought musical personalities such as Schönberg, Reger or Hindemith to his home town.As a composer of chamber music and symphonic works, Wachsmuth is completely committed to late Romanticism with a commitment to salon aesthetics. Many of his works were published by renowned publishers during his lifetime. For a long time they were out of print. With this new edition, Wachsmuth's family and the publisher would like to make the charming compositions available again.
