Works and editions by Filitz, Carl August Eduard (1822-1888)
Carl August Eduard Filitz was born in Jarischau (Upper Silesia) in 1822. He trained as a teacher and organist in Breslau, one of his teachers was Adolph Friedrich Hesse. He became cantor and organist in Landeshut in 1863. He died there in 1888 at the age of 66.
Filitz left only a few smaller works in compilations; the present Fantasie is the only surviving work of his own. In its form, it follows on from the four-hand fantasy by Adolph Hesse - and is a grateful alternative for organ duos to the already very well-known Hesse opus.
