Works and editions by Schneider, Johann (1702-1788)
Johann Schneider was born near Coburg in 1702. He received a varied education in violin, piano and composition, and from 1720 he was a pupil of Johann Sebastian Bach in Köthen. He was organist and court kapellmeister in Saalfeld and Weimar and finally became organist at the Nikolaikirche in Leipzig in 1730 on Bach's recommendation. He retained this post until almost his death in 1788.
